Pick your length. Pick your shape.

A neighborhood nail salon on Devine Street with four technicians. Students on a break, families on a Saturday and regulars who have been coming for years all start the same way: you choose, and we tell you the time.

Step one

Pick your length

Length sets most of the time at the table. Pick one, and we will tell you the time before we start.

  • A technician shaping a client's short nails with a file, over a nail dust collector
    New set: about 75 min

    Short

Right at the fingertip, easy for typing, studying and work.

  • Hands holding a ceramic mug, with medium-length nails in a sheer pink
    New set: about 90 min

    Medium

Just past the fingertip: a little length, with room for a design.

  • A technician in black gloves holding a client's hand with long red almond nails beside a fan of color swatch tips
    New set: about 105 min

    Long

Well past the fingertip, with more time at the table to build it.

Step two

Pick your shape

Shape adds a few minutes, and it changes how the set looks and feels.

  • Adds no time

    Square

A flat tip with straight sides.

  • Adds about 5 min

    Squoval

    Square, with the corners softened.

  • Adds about 10 min

    Almond

Tapers to a soft, rounded point.

  • Adds about 15 min

    Ballerina

A long taper that ends in a flat tip.

The team

Four technicians, one neighborhood salon

Ask for someone by name, or take the next chair.

  • Shaunta Simmons at her manicure station with a lamp, a gray hand towel and a cup of brushes

    Shaunta Simmons

    Owner and lead technician

    • Nail technician license · SC Lic. # 000000

Shaunta owns Gumdrop and does new sets, fills and the length-and-shape talk at the start of each one. She takes walk-ins and booked clients the same way: the time first, then the color.

  • Pearlie Frazier at her station with a tray of polish bottles, a hand cushion and a gel lamp

    Pearlie Frazier

    Technician, natural nails and fills

Pearlie does natural-nail manicures, gel polish and fills, and many regulars ask for her by name. If you want your nails short and easy, she is the one to sit with.

  • Jamiya Turner in white scrubs beside a pedicure chair, with a cart of lotions and towels

    Jamiya Turner

    Technician, nail art

Jamiya does the art: French tips, chrome and hand-painted accents. Bring a picture and she will tell you how long it takes before she starts.

  • Deasia Richardson leaning over a toe separator, painting a toenail pink

    Deasia Richardson

    Technician, pedicures

Deasia looks after the pedicure chairs and the kids' manicures. Students on a break and parents on a Saturday sit with her often.

Regulars

What people say at the counter

“I come in between classes. They tell me how long it will take before I sit down, and it is always right.”

Octavia P.Student

“I booked a Saturday time for my daughter's birthday and walked in on a Tuesday for myself. Both worked the way they said.”

Lonnie H.Neighbor

“Pearlie has done my nails for as long as I can remember. I never have to explain what I like.”
